What is uwu speak?
It all starts with the face. Tilt your head: in uwu, the two u's are closed, blissed-out anime eyes and the w is a tiny puckered mouth — the emoticon equivalent of a contented sigh. Its wide-eyed sibling owo is the surprised version. Both grew up in early-2000s anime forums and roleplay chats, went feral on Tumblr and Discord, and eventually escaped containment entirely — "hewwo" and "notice me senpai" are now standard internet vocabulary, usually deployed with at least three layers of irony.
Uwu speak is what happens when you write the way that face sounds.
